Friday 1st June 10.30 am Formal Opening of Lounge Bar. All welcome.
Also on 3rd June will be Games Night from 7.30 pm. There will be skittles, New Age Kurling, darts, bar billiards, paper quizzes and a host of other competitions with prizes. The Jubilee Hamper will be drawn. There will be a cafeteria style "pay as you eat" barbecue and the bar will be open with drinks at very reasonable prices. There is no admission fee so come along for a feel-good fun evening.
However, the downside is that throughout the summer there will be the usual problems associated with living with major building works. The ceiling of the East Room has already been taken down by our wonderful Rotary wrecking team and on 18-19 May the ceiling of the West room will be removed and a temporary ceiling installed. Between now and the start of the work proper there will be intermittent work in the East room. On 21/22 July the wall between the East and West rooms will be removed preparatory to the builders moving in on 23 July. Both rooms will then be out of action until completion of the work on 6 September.
There will be noise, dirt and disruption and while we will try to keep this to a minimum, we ask your co-operation in the interests of making these major improvements to the Avonway facilities.East/West Room Refurbishment
By the end of the summer we are confident that the East/West room complex will look as good as the Bar Lounge does now.
